Who We Are
Unity Care offers a wide range of services benefiting foster and underserved youth and families throughout Northern California. We focus on each child as an individual, and offer a full range of services that empower young people and provide the security and support they need to flourish in society.
Unity Care’s mission is to provide quality youth and family programs for the purpose of creating healthier communities through lifelong partnerships.
Our goals are to provide safe, secure, and positive living environments; educate and support at-risk youth; and prepare young people to pursue professions in which minorities are chronically underrepresented.
Who We Serve
Unity Care programs serve underserved and foster youth and families in Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, Placer, and El Dorado counties. Youth are referred to us from over 30 counties across California and out of state. Our signature program, founded in 1993, focuses on serving the housing needs of youth in foster care and beyond. Our mission has grown and expanded for over two decades, and today includes 22 community-based, housing, educational, and behavioral health programs aiding over 7,600 youth and family members annually.
At Unity Care, we serve as rest stops and healing centers along the journey of our youth and families’ trials and tribulations. We focus on meeting individualized needs and working together for the benefit of each child and family in our care. We put our philosophy into practice through our 1-Child 1-Plan framework and our Transcultural Engagement Model.
Our 1-Child 1-Plan framework promotes effective and efficient teamwork through one service delivery plan for each youth or family referred to our care. Our holistic approach coordinates and streamlines services across various parties to help our youth achieve more positive and permanent connections with their families, schools, and communities.
Our Transcultural Engagement Model
Unity Care has institutionalized a focus on cultural proficiency that differentiates us from other providers, and enables our staff to better serve our ethnically diverse communities. Our Transcultural Engagement Model is a significant employee training component that incorporates many cultural perspectives, appreciates differences, values the unique contributions of diverse groups, and promotes learning from many orientations.
