There are countless ways to get involved at Unity Care.

Our goal is to help individuals and organizations find opportunities that fit their needs while also making a difference in the lives of underserved youth in our community. Regardless of the level or type of commitment, volunteers are integral to the services we provide for youth.

Unity Care is growing its Board of Directors

Our Mission: We transform the lives of young people in and emerging from foster care by providing stable housing, caring connections, and life skills that build a foundation to achieve their potential.

Our Vision: Unity Care is the nurturing home that embraces, heals, and transitions foster youth toward adult lives of independence, wellbeing, and purpose. We are leading the way to eradicate homelessness and inspire hope for their brighter future.

Unity Care is seeking to add to its Board of Directors.

Unity Care is seeking board candidates with any of these areas of expertise: finance, fund-raising/development, housing, legal, strategic planning, marketing or operations/process.

The ideal candidate will possess and share our passion to further our mission and vision and the skills to help execute our approach. Service terms are for two years, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the voting board members.

Unity Care has four committees:

  1. Marketing & Development Committee
  2. Finance Committee
  3. Learning & Development Committee
  4. Executive Committee

Meetings are bi-monthly hybrid (in person and zoom). Meeting objectives are to review and manage fiduciary and other relevant matters quickly and effectively. Each board member shall serve on at least one committee and actively work to achieve committee/project goals.

In addition to working directly on a committee, each board member is expected to be an active connector for Unity Care and cultivate support by introducing Unity Care to your network: corporations, foundations, and private philanthropists; or serve as an advocate with government officials and in foundation meetings to represent the case for funding support of Unity Care.

Each board member is expected to:

  • Serve as an ambassador of Unity Care’s mission, programs, and services
  • Contribute relevant expertise and participate in the strategic and financial success of Unity Care
  • Contribute financially to Unity Care
  • Cultivate prospective board members to introduce them to Unity Care

Established in 1993, Unity Care is a national accredited, strengths-based, culturally proficient youth and emerging adult agency. Unity Care’s goal is to provide housing and supportive services for youth and emerging adults as they age out of the foster care system. Unity Care provides services across 9 Bay Area and Sacramento Area Counties.

Our mission and vision remain true to our core values of servant leadership, learning, diversity, integrity, and equity, with a sharpened focus on providing the housing and support foster youth need to overcome trauma and become self-sufficient. Our work is grounded in our founding principles of faith and cultural
proficiency in communities of color.
