Former Mayor of Los Gatos Marico Sayoc Joins Unity Care

San Jose, Calif. – Unity Care, a youth and family development agency serving Northern California foster youth, announces that Marico Sayoc has joined the organization as Director of Development, Impact, and Strategic Initiatives.

“I am thrilled to appoint Marico as a member of our executive leadership team,” said Unity Care Founder and CEO André Chapman. “Her strong leadership and advocacy experience, in both government and the community, make her exceptionally qualified to advance our mission of serving our communities’ most vulnerable children and youth.”

Ms. Sayoc is a seasoned professional with more than 25 years of program management and public policy experience. As Mayor of Los Gatos, she focused on developing forward-thinking and fiscally responsible programs, advancing education and child development, and promoting inclusiveness and respect. Having just completed her term as Mayor, Ms. Sayoc will continue to serve on the Town Council.

Prior to her election to the council, Ms. Sayoc served as the town’s Planning Commissioner from 2007-2014, advising the town and optimizing government partnerships on land use solutions. Her experience includes advocacy and program management at the National Resources Defense Council, as well as senior management at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where she worked for over 10 years. Ms. Sayoc served as Environmental Fellow at the H. John Heinz III Center for Science, Economics and the Environment. She has also received Certificates of Recognition from the Consulate General of the Philippines and the California State Assembly.

Ms. Sayoc holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters of Environmental Management from Duke University.
