Empowered by Employment Training
Alexis is a single mother of two children who was referred to the Nia Project over concerns of domestic violence and the well-being of her children. Unity Care staff helped Alexis feel more confident and empowered as they guided her in obtaining employment, much needed household items, and gifts for the holiday season. Her participation in Year Up Silicon Valley provided Alexis with job training at a top technology company in San Jose. She also qualified for a Housing Industry Foundation grant that enabled her to put a security deposit on a new apartment in a lovely neighborhood.
