Unity Care turns 25! #GratitudeJourney

When we opened our first home for foster youth on August 14, 1993, I could not have envisioned growing to serve over 7,500 youth and families across the Bay Area each year. Because of the dedication shown by staff, volunteers and community partners, we have been able to transform the lives of tens of thousands of our community’s most vulnerable children and youth, setting them on a path to self-sufficiency and a brighter future.

Recently a county administrator asked me what my thoughts were on Unity Care reaching the major milestone of 25 YEARS OF SERVICE. My response to him went something like this…

I am overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for every person who has walked alongside Unity Care during this journey and I want to say THANK YOU to the individuals who, over the past 25 years, invested their time, talents and treasures towards our success!

In recognition of Unity Care’s 25th Anniversary, we are ramping up our celebrations over the coming months and delivering community recognition awards to key contributors. This ‘Gratitude Journey’ will culminate at our annual gala event – Youthlive! on August 25, 2018, where we will also launch our major gifts campaign to eradicate the homelessness challenges for youth exiting foster care.

We know finding safe, affordable housing in Silicon Valley is exceedingly difficult; and for youth who lack traditional family supports, it is nearly impossible. Your support can be the reason why our foster youth have a supportive place to call “home.” It truly takes a village to do this work, and I am humbled by the multitude of Unity Care supporters who have served as that village.

Please join us at Youthlive! Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Club AutoSport San Jose, when we reflect on 25 years of service to foster youth and families; with Keynote Speaker and New York Times Bestselling Author, Stedman Graham. Tickets are available at www.unitycare.org/youthlive

Looking forward to celebrating with you,

André
