What We DoServicesCommunity-Based Services Parent Advocate Services

Parent Advocate Services

Unity Care’s Parent Advocate Services provide support for parents who are currently in the family reunification process. Parent Advocates assist parents in fulfilling their court-ordered case plans by locating appropriate community resources, acting as mentors to help parents navigate the child welfare system, and offering support groups for individuals and families.

Parent Advocates also assist Social Workers in supporting families in the reunification process.

The goals of the Parent Advocate Program are to:

  • Engage and reunify families involved with Family Reunification
  • Advocate for families to receive necessary supportive services
  • Protect the rights of family members

The program seeks to provide the following benefits for the families served:

  • Unity is promoted within the family system;
  • Healthy relationships are formed and maintained:
  • Easier access to community resources;
  • Facilitation of positive and smooth reunifications; and
  • Development of effective communication skills.
