Girls' Health in Girls' Hands

Girls' Health in Girls' Hands is a girl-led research project, currently in the implementation stage, based on the recommendations found in a research project. The purpose of the program is to give girls the opportunity to be advocates for their own health needs and to have better access to health information, support and services that are age appropriate and culturally sensitive in Monterey County.

    1st Part of Project

Recruit regional teams of girls ages 11 through18 in Salinas, Monterey, Peninsula, and South County to lead a health day for girls. Participants will help plan a total of 4 health days, 1 in each part of the county and 1 multi-county health day.

Space is limited to 10 girls per region. As an incentive each girl will receive a stipend per planning meeting and health day that they attend. Participants must attend a minimum of 5 planning meetings and will be responsible for contacting local businesses, community agencies as well as friends for involvement.

If you are interested in being a participant, please contact the program coordinator at (831) 449-7974 ext. 123.
