Carl Agers

Carl Agers, II, Chairman

ThoughtMatrix, Inc.

Vice President

Carl Agers is Vice President, Marketing Services for ThoughtMatrix, a San Francisco based digital design and development agency. Carl is a marketing and business development veteran with over 25 years of experience. Prior to joining ThoughtMatrix, Carl founded the marketing consultancy, Tager Group, which he merged with Decision Counsel, a technology marketing and Internet strategy firm where he served as the Vice President of Strategy.

 

Previously, Carl served as the Senior Director of Marketing for USWeb/CKS, where he managed global product and marketing initiatives. Carl was also instrumental in launching several groundbreaking wireless communications products for Motorola during his tenure there as a field marketing manager, including many joint marketing initiatives with industry leaders Dell, Compaq, HP and IBM. Additionally, his team managed merchandising and channel marketing programs for CompUSA, Radio Shack/Tandy, Incredible Universe, and CellStar the largest retail cell phone distributor in the United States. Carl was a Senior Product Manager in Dell’s portable products group, successfully launching many products globally.

 

Carl’s nonprofit experience and leadership also runs deep. He has served as an active board member for Unity Care for the last 10 years and was voted in as the Board President in 2002. Carl serves on the board of Potter’s Clay a marriage and family renewal project and is currently Vice Chair of the Council of Elders for Saratoga Federated Church.

Jodi KrauseJodi Krause, Vice Chairman

Director, Council & Board Effectiveness

Jodi Krause is currently the Director of Organizational Effectiveness in Cisco’s Corporate Positioning organization. In this role, she leads a team that is accelerating the expertise, capability and results of Cisco’s Councils and Board structure through a repeatable model that combines process, technology and culture. Cisco’s collaboration model has built a culture of shared goals using an organizational structure based on cross-functional Councils and Boards to make strategic business decisions.  This collaborative evolution is part of a company-wide transformation to enable a seamless, global, faster, virtual and easier experience for Cisco’s customers, partners, and employees.

 

In her previous position at Cisco, Jodi led the Organization & Leadership Development team for Cisco’s Product Development organization, a world-wide engineering function of over 22,000 employees located in over 100 countries.  She was responsible for coaching the senior executives to improve their team performance and effectiveness, and also led the planning, development, implementation and organizational change management efforts for strategic business initiatives such as employee engagement, culture evolution, and inclusion & diversity.
Prior to joining Cisco in 2004, Jodi worked in various HR management and OD positions at Intuit, GE, and Westinghouse.  Jodi has a master’s degree in Organization Development from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University.

Amanda Hurley

Amanda Hurley, Treasurer

Audit Senior Manager

Amanda Hurley is an audit manager at Grant Thornton LLP providing audit services to companies in the technology, consumer product, and not for profit industries. She serves both public and private companies, including large, established businesses as well as start-up and growth companies, with both domestic and international operations.  Her technology industry experience includes technology hardware components including medical and sensor devices, software license arrangements, software-as-a-service, and online media.  In addition to having working knowledge of complicated US GAAP including technical expertise in business combinations, share-based compensation, and software revenue recognition, Amanda has established her ability to teach and mentor associates and has led several technical trainings both at the local and national level.

 

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Amanda worked for Eisner LLP, a large regional public accounting firm in New York City focusing on retail, distribution, and financial service clients. Prior to starting her career in accounting, Amanda worked in the Student Academic Consulting Center of Baruch College developing and teaching curriculum for freshman learning community groups. She also tutored students, earning the outstanding tutor of the year award. Amanda graduated summa cum laude from Baruch College in New York City with a BBA in Accounting.

Barbara Hanly

Barbara Hanly is a PMP certified program management professional with deep experience in business process and systems implementation within Engineering and IT organizations. Previously she was the Senior Project Manager at Genentech working on the systems and data integration required for the merger of Roche and Genentech. She also served at Adobe Systems as the Senior Program Manager in Engineering Product Process Management for product development tools and process initiatives deployed globally, with Astral Group in IT Business and Systems Management, and with Amdahl Corporations as Director of Information Systems and Business Processes. Barbara has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of San Francisco in Information Systems Management.

Arvind Deogirikar

Arvind Deogirikar

Independent Consultant

Arvind has more than twenty-five years of academia and high-tech industry experience in strategic planning, operations, supply chain management and business development. Most recently, as a Senior Product Manager at Cisco Systems Inc., in their Global Service Supply Chain and Services Product Management groups. He has strong analytical skills and proficiency in growth strategy, global expansion and channel sales management. He has established global partner relationships and led product and sales management teams to expand product and service offerings internationally.

Previously, Arvind spent eleven years at Sun Microsystems (Acquired by Oracle). At Sun, he was a founding team member of Sun’s East European operations headquartered in Moscow, Russia, and the Sales and Business Development Manager for the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Prior to industry, Arvind was a tenured Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator, Computer Information Systems, at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY. Arvind holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Kiev Polytechnic Institute, and a MBA from Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business. Several of Arvind’s press interviews and technical articles are published internationally.

 

Over the past years, Arvind has been an investor in early stage companies and a mentor to entrepreneurs in social benefit programs at the Global Social Benefit Incubator at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara and HUB Ventures in San Francisco. Arvind is fluent in five languages and has lived in India, Japan, Russia, Ukraine and USA. Arvind is also a board member for the African Library Project, a group dedicated to changing lives book by book by starting libraries in rural Africa.

David Hershfield

David is a Sr. Executive, currently working at Redcats, as a Sr. Vice President of the Online Technology organization. Prior to joining Redcats, David worked at PayPal, Adobe Systems, Ascend Communications/Lucent, Sprint, where he led teams of software and web developers, communicators, product managers, marketing managers, designers, writers, program managers, and customer service representatives. In various smaller companies, David has led teams of virtually every function, while helping to grow revenue and engaged customers.

 

David has been a Unity Care board member since 2008, and is highly passionate about the organization’s mission and contribution to the community. He received a BA from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California. David resides in Santa Clara County.

Cedric Martin

Cedric Martin

Claims Representative

Cedric Martin has worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years. Prior to joining Chartis Insurance Services, Cedric worked in various leadership and management positions with AIG Insurance, AIG/21st Century Insurance and State Farm Insurance. He has extensive experience and success in program leadership, business analysis, claims management, and customer relations.

 

Cedric joined the Board of Directors of Unity Care fourteen years ago and has been on the Executive Committee of the agency for twelve years. He served as the first Counselor of the first residential treatment home that Unity Care opened in Santa Clara County in 1993 to provide a safe residential environment, educational assistance and job readiness training for high risk and foster youth. Cedric also serves as a volunteer for the “Minority Citizens Advisory Committee” of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) that assists MTC in increasing participation from communities of color, increasing the touch points throughout the community, and improving education about MTC in communities of color. Cedric is a graduate of San Jose State University.

Mattie' Nogaye

Mattie’ Nogaye

Mattie’ is proud to claim that her formative years of growth occurred in the Mid-West (Chicago and Detroit). While she has lived in California for over 29 years she still considered Detroit her home town. She is the proud mother of one son and two grandchildren who also live in Northern California.

 

Mattie’ received her Bachelors in Education and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Mattie’ has been a Social Worker for over thirty-three years.  Her career track includes public and private agencies; the underserved and underinsured population and, community or hospital based health care settings. Legacy is important to Mattie’ which is why she constantly seeks opportunities to make a difference (formally or informally) in the lives of her family, friends, and community.

 

Mattie’ obtained her Masters degree in Organization Development from Pepperdine University in August of 2010. She feels participating in the Pepperdine program changed her life due the dynamic nature of the curriculum. She utilizes her OD skills as a current Manager and is confident that she will eventually move into her next career phase fully utilizing her degree in OD as a Training and Development Specialist. Mattie’ considers herself a planetary citizen and loves to travel. She has traveled to Africa three times and has more than a few more destinations in mind including another trip back to Africa. She is intrigued by meeting people from around the world.

 

Mattie’ loves animated films, films that relay a message, and amusement parks. She is not ashamed to acknowledge that her favorite films include Forrest Gump and Shrek and that she could spend days hanging out with her grandchildren at Disney Land.

Andrew Wong

Andrew J. Wong

Attorney at Law

Andrew Wong is a lawyer specializing in family law serving the Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.  He specializes in high conflict divorces with custody issues.  His practice brings him into contact with families suffering from the effects of substance abuse, domestic violence and mental health issues. Since graduating from NYU School of Law, Andrew has also worked in securities and real estate law. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Andrew graduated from MIT and worked in the software industry.

 

Andrew comes to Unity Care as a Latino Board Leadership Academy fellow. With roots in Latin America, Andrew is passionate about the issues facing the Latino community in Santa Clara County.  Andrew is dedicated to public service and devotes his life to helping at-risk children and their families. In addition to his work with Unity Care, Andrew volunteers at his church and St. Anthony’s soup kitchen in Redwood City.

Mark Yolton

Mark Yolton

Digital, Social, & Community Marketing

Mark Yolton leads the SAP Community Network, a hosted professional social network for customers and partners of the world’s largest business application software company. The community uses discussion forums, blogs, wikis, gamification, and related best practices to enable more than two million members to connect, collaborate, and help their companies run better. He also leads SAP’s participation in public social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, SlideShare, YouTube, and others.  In addition, his team hosts major events for SAP customers and partners, including the SAP TechEd series which is held on four continents and attracts >30,000 attendees.

 

Mark has been leading aspects of social business during all of his six years at SAP, by way of Sun Microsystems, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Unisys Corporation. His background includes field, regional, and headquarters roles in marketing, communications, emerging innovation, the web, and eBusiness. He has degrees from Shippensburg University (central Pennsylvania), and has completed MBA coursework and continuing executive education at LaSalle University (Philadelphia, PA), at INSEAD (France), and at Stanford University (California).

Mark is a Board Observer with InnoCentive, which operates a crowd-sourced open innovation marketplace, and has been a Board Member of the Unity Care Group since 2010.
